New Wireless Soil Sensor Network offers Unparalleled Irrigation Control

King of Prussia, Pa. – UgMO Technologies announced today the launch of the new UG1000 System, the first wireless soil sensor network designed to control and/or monitor large and small irrigation systems to save water and money while protecting and enhancing the health of turf and landscapes. The new system utilizes industry leading UgMO wireless soil sensors to ensure that only the water needed by a landscape is applied.

The wireless sensors are buried two to four inches underground to measure soil moisture levels at the roots of the plant in real-time, up to six times an hour, 24 hours a day.  Sensor data is wirelessly transmitted to the UgMO Irrigation Controller, which has a fully digital interface and the patented UgMO adaptive watering algorithm that breaks the traditional watering schedule paradigm.  There are no start-times to set and no complex site variables to enter. Just tell it when NOT to water and using the sensor data UgMO does the rest. The controller is also fully software upgradeable to incorporate future features.

Harnessing the power and flexibility of the new SenLinkTM wireless-sensor-network technology, the UG1000 is designed for simple installation and ease of use. The SenLink dual frequency network topology delivers unparalleled wireless performance both below and above ground to address the unique challenges of an outdoor sensor network.  Combined with the advanced UgMO KnowsTM web-based software platform, the UG1000 supports data collection, monitoring and remote configuration of the UG1000 components. It does not require IT support or even prior knowledge of networking as it easily connects to existing Internet connections with no required firewall configuration.

“UgMO recognizes the importance of irrigation efficiency and its contribution to addressing the severe water shortages facing many states across the country. We want to be a resource to those needing a simpler, more intelligent approach to saving water and reducing overhead expenses each month,” said UgMO President Don Apruzzese. “Simply stated, the UG1000 system redefines smart irrigation and is the most effective solution to managing irrigation water efficiently.”

The UG1000 Irrigation Controller will initially be available in models to control 12 and 24 irrigation zones with future expandability to address much larger commercial implementations.

UG1000 always applies the optimal amount of water – no more, no less – ensuring the most favorable conditions for plant growth, while achieving irrigation water savings of 30 to 50 percent.

See the UG1000 system on display at the UgMO Technologies booth (#2707) at the American Society of Landscape Architects Show in San Diego, October 31 – November 1, 2011.
